Gold Bear Dream Meaning

Now for over 30 years I've been writing about what dreams mean.

When I sit quietly with the image of a gold bear (the way I do before I answer anyone about it) what comes through isn't a warning dream. It's closer to a celebration, a bit like the 6 of wands in tarot. 

• A gold teddy bear reminds you that you are strong. 
• A gold cub encourages you to be more caring, especially of new areas that need attention.
• If you see a gold bear standing calmly, this says protection and safety is already around you. 
• If the bear seems to be chasing you then this can be so scary, you are possibly trying to avoid some strength or calling within yourself. Because it is "gold" it means you could be trying to hide something important in life.
• Seeing a talking, or even changing shape, gold bear is uncommon, and when it happens, it is usually an important message that is coming to you from some place you already know and trust, even if you don't pay enough attention.

If the gold bear was chasing you or it was freaking you out this means that you are running away from riches. If the gold bear was just there (like in a shop or on the side somewhere) this can indicate riches. 

I also feel it depends on if the bear was a teddy bear or a real life bear. The gold teddy bear tends to visit those people who recognize they can no longer treat their inner strength as something shameful or to be feared, but as something worthy and precious and worthy of protection.

I want to share something with you, the gold (life-size) bear is one of the dreams that stops me in my tracks when someone tells me they have had this dream. It's also rare, very rare.

And, by the way, dream psychologists never wrote about specifically what a golden bear means. Likewise, if you see an AI answer saying they do, it is not right, it is most probably not going to give you the true spiritual meaning because you can't apply lots of psychology concepts to certain symbols. However, in my view, Freud and Jung believed that a bear is a source of strength in life, when it gets messy.

When the bear dream appears in your dream it is always very positive. This is because, in all honesty, the gold color also carries rich symbolism, which I have seen move in my room, when a client describes her bear dreams to me.

What does a golden bear mean?

If you have seen a bear dream in your dream, in my spiritual work it is bearing a gift of spiritual power that has been through a fire test and comes out more complete and powerful than ever before.

There are three threads that are important in this powerful image that I'd like to examine in detail before looking at some dream scenarios. The bear comes up in the Bible more times than you'd think, and almost always in important moments.

According to 2 Kings 2:23-24, two she-bears came out from the woods and attacked a group of young men that were making fun of Elisha, the prophet. This amazing story has puzzled people for hundreds of years, and at least we know that bears were seen as a sign of sudden and incontestable judgment in the ancient world.

Among many Native American nations, the bear is considered the keeper of a kind of medicine, healing knowledge, the wisdom that comes from having survived hardship, and the protection to go along with it. As such, to me, this is a dream that is about inner strength.

In the myths of Scandinavia, the Norse were said to seize possession of the spirit of the bear during combat; a similar approach was in Finland, where it was believed that the bear might take up residence temporarily in the soul of a man, who consequently was rendered immune to attacks by other creatures. The ancient Finns revered and feared the bear, practising elaborate rituals even for the bear's spirit after death.

Is the dream good or bad?

Well, in my view, gold is a positive dream. In the Bible it symbolizes revelation, the golden streets of the New Jerusalem, the place where heaven and earth meet. For hundreds of years alchemists have been trying to turn ordinary metals into the most precious one because gold is, they believe, matter in its most perfected, purified state. Where other metals go a bit rusty, gold stays; it is rich. In spiritual work, gold means riches.

Summary

In summary this is a positive dream, the type of bear is important.  However the bear appears to you, gold changes the entire vibe of the dream. This isn't a dream about danger. It's a dream about strength that has been through something and come out the other side: purified, recognized, and worth honoring.

Over the last thirty years, I have come to count on one thing, the golden bear, it never shows up to freak out anyone. It shows up to bless things, to say that something is set apart as holy. If this dream comes across your dreams, then treat it as a gift. It's a reminder of what strength you have, in whatever form your dream suggested that you might have it, is ripe for being claimed as something holy instead of something secret.
