Dreams of C J Jung

Uncover hidden superstitions meanings

This superstition of Carl Jung is that he believed a number of dreams enabled one to see how they dealt with waking life.

Dream Accounts of: Carl Jung - 1963C.J Jung investigated a number of dreams, he was passionate about understanding them during his lifetime. According to Carl Jung his dreams are a way of communication between our unconscious mind. Dreams do not allow us to conceal any secrets.I had the earliest dream I can remember, a dream which was to preoccupy me all my life. I was then between three and four years old. The vicarage stood quite alone near Laufen castle, and there was a big meadow. Suddenly I discovered a dark, rectangular, stone lined hole in the ground. I had never seen it before. I ran forward curiously and peered down into it.

Then I saw a stone stairway leading down. Hesitantly and fearfully, I descended. At the bottom was a doorway with a round arch, closed off by a green curtain. It was a big, heavy curtain of worked stuff like brocade, and it looked very sumptuous. Curious to see what might be hidden behind, I pushed it aside. I saw before me in the dim light a rectangular chamber about thirty feet long. The ceiling was arched and of hewn stone. The floor was laid with flagstones, and in the centre a red carpet ran from the entrance to a low platform. On this platform stood a wonderfully rich golden throne... Something was standing on it which I thought at first was a tree trunk twelve to fifteen feet high and about one and a half to two feet thick. It was a huge thing, reaching almost to the ceiling.

But it was of a curious composition: it was made of skin and naked flesh, and on top there was something like a rounded head with no face and no hair. On the very top of the head was a single eye, gazing motionlessly upwards. It was fairly light in the room, although there were no windows and no apparent source of light. Above the head, however, was an aura of brightness. The thing did not move, yet I had the feeling that it might at any moment crawl off the throne like a worm and creep towards me. I was paralyzed with terror. At that moment I heard from outside and above me my mother’s voice. She called out, “Yes, just look at him. That is the main-eater!” That intensified my terror still more, and I awoke sweating and scared to death. For many nights afterwards I was afraid to go to sleep, because I feared I might have another dream like that. This was recalled by CG Jung in the memories, dreams and reflections in 1963. So what does this dream mean?

This dream is interesting as it encompasses many different elemental elements. I enjoyed reading CG Jung’s dream and this is my interpretation. When reading through this overview I was quite surprised at the fear she showed at the end. More iimportantly I am convinced that this dream is connected to spirituality. The third eye demonstrates this and whenever you see an eye in your dreams you need to immediately recognise that this is a calling to increase your occult power and practices. So let’s take it from the top and interpret this dream: element by element. First of the entire vicarage, the dark hall in the ground represents depression especially as it is stone lines. The fact that she moved forward to peer down it shows an automatic need to address the depression full on. The green curtain shows a quite patient person, but she will loose her temper if provoked. The flagstones on the floor represent a fever, especially if they are red, but the colour is missing out of the overview. This simply shows the need to be able to recognize an illness before it escalates out of control.

A further dream by C J Jung

In one dream Jung found himself on the second floor of a large house, but did not recognize the property. He described this as comprising an elegant salon that was elegantly furnished in a rococo decor. For some reason he described that he was reluctant to explore the ground floor and that the decoration seemed medieval. Jung then describes that a stairwell opened which lead down into a vaulted chamber which he felt was build during the Roman times. He described that he felt that this house described a point of psychic development – of a key to the next world. So let’s analyze his dream.

So what does this dream mean?

This dream is interesting as it encompasses many different elemental elements. I enjoyed reading CG Jung’s dream and this is my interpretation. When reading through this overview I was quite surprised at the fear she showed at the end. More importantly I am convinced that this dream is connected to spirituality. The third eye demonstrates this and whenever you see an eye in your dreams you need to immediately recognize that this is a calling to increase your occult power and practices. The flagstones on the floor represent a fever, especially if they are red, but the color is missing out of the overview. This simply shows the need to be able to recognize an illness before it escalates out of control. The house represented an image of the psyche, and his state of emotional well being. The consciousness mind was represented by the salon; the fact that it is decorated in a rococo decor clearly shows his need to dress up events in his life in order to make people feel more at ease. This is Jung’s response to his dream:

“The deeper I went in, the more alien and darker the scene became. In the cave, I discovered remains of a primitive culture, that is, the world of primitive man within himself – a world which can scarcely be reached or illuminated”

Taking this paragraph it is apparent that through his experiments he was trying to find out about the human race, to me this indicated a need to escape in order to understand life on earth. Let’s continue with some more paragraphs from his transcripts:

“The primitive psyche of man borders on the life of the animal soul, just as the caves of prehistoric times were usually inhabited by animals before men laid claim to them.”

In this paragraph Jung clearly shows some form of connection to his spiritual animal guides, so he is saying basically that when we dream we usually have a connection between the spirit world and on our earth plane. As he has mentioned the animal soul it shows the direct indication that he has experienced spiritual development. For me in summary his dreams indicated a desired need to grow and develop his spiritual connections whilst providing an extravagant lifestyle where he is in control. Obviously, as Carl Jung is now dead it is difficult to ask him if this is his character and if this meaning has an association with his life. If you want to begin to learning what your dreams may mean this is a great section to begin to understand and develop these areas.
