Adept

Adept and the Occult

Uncover the perfect magical practitioner!

A skillful and trained practitioner of the occult arts.

Often used as a terminology for one that has internally perfected a magical system such as the Golden Dawn. Also can be a non-gender specific description for a person who has attained rank within a coven such as a priestess or priest.

It can also be used as a terminology for one that has internally perfected a magical system in whole or in part, such as the Golden Dawn, OTO, etc.

It also can be a non-gender specific description for a person who has attained rank within a coven such as a priestess or priest. Many magical systems use the word "adept" and so it can be a bit confusing! What one pagan or witch may consider an adept, doesn’t always translate the same way with another.

This person will be accomplished in the area in which they have received the adept status but often will still have more to learn in other areas. For example, one can reach the rank of adept in a coven or group and then decide to switch paths or seek out another group later in their life but have to start over with the new groups training requirements.

It is completely possible that a person can be adept in two or more magical groups, covens, or magical systems.
