Catnip is known as Catmint, Catrup or Catswort.

It is a perennial herb of the mint family. It is feminine in gender and associated with the power of the planet Venus and water. It is used in worship rituals or prayers to the god of love, Aengus Og (for happiness and love) and to the goddess Aine (for beauty and clarity).

It was traditionally used for medicinal purposes as a treatment for upset stomach, colic, spasms, flatulency, acid, chronic bronchitis and diarrhea.

It may also be used as an enema. In modern times, however, it is more popular because of its effect on cats. It is said to emit a substance that mimics pheromones in cats. Catnip is usually used to attract a mate. It is known to be useful in captivating your lover with your special ways and to capture his or her heart. Some people call it a Woman's herb because of its ability to make a women attractive to men. It is said that it is for this reason it is use by a women to bring about a good relationship.

Catnip will:

For women, it is advised to place Catnip in a love mojo bag and carry it on your person. This will make men attracted to you. Use it in a spiritual bath to get a new lover. It is also advised to soak Catnip in rum or cinnamon water and sprinkle this near the front of your house. Carry this out every evening for twenty-one days beginning on the night of the a new moon. Love will soon come your way!

Magical uses

Catnip's magical powers include helping bring on beauty, happiness, luck and if put under the pillow at night the herb promotes sleep. It promotes playfulness and is an ingredient in some love spells. Give to your cat to create a psychic bond between the two of you. Grow in your garden for good luck!
