Humming Dream Meaning
What does humming in a dream mean?
Humming in a dream is about vibration. I always like to think of it as a dream that is trying to move from one layer to another. The reason I say this is that in Hindu and Buddhist practice, the holy sound Om is hummed or chanted as AUM.
Based on an old buddist text called the Mandukya Upanishad, the three parts of the sound, A, U and M, indicates three states of being: being awake, dreaming and deep sleep.
In my own spiritual practice, I have used this chant to move myself out of astral travel. Therefore, to me this dream is saying you are moving spiritually from one destination to another. If you find yourself humming in a dream, for some of you it is about moving yourself out of dream mode. It could be that you need to wake up, or it could be that you need to focus on moving from one state to another. It can also mean you need to find some sort of focus in waking life.
What does it mean to see yourself humming in a dream?
As I have said above, it is about moving from one state to another. Humming to yourself in a dream can suggest something powerful is on the cards. This is connected to your own senses, and this dream makes me feel that something might be hidden and that you need to try to guess how things will go. You may get this wrong. I also feel that this dream means you have to face some sort of shadow and maybe transform something inside. For some of you, it can mean you are supposed to release something in your life, such as a love relationship, and that something has come to an end.
Is this dream good or bad?
In most cases, I feel that this is a good dream. Humming can be connected to both peace and comfort. If you think about it, people hum when they are relaxed, happy or lost in thought. Additionally, we hum to calm ourselves when we feel a little anxious.
What does it mean when somebody else is humming in a dream?
Hearing somebody else hum is about releasing something. If you know the person humming, then this is an energy type dream. It might say you're safe with this person, or that you miss them. If you don't know who the person is, the humming may mean support is coming your way, or that there is something in you that you haven't quite listened to yet. It may remind you of someone who hummed whenever they prepared food, worked or slept. I do think this is a sign of peace and is positive for movement in life.
Humming a tune might mean something completely new is going to come into your life. It could be a brand new idea, a creative undertaking or maybe a new direction in life. Several musicians and authors claim they heard humming in a dream and turned it into real songs. If you're creative, this dream might be a sign to listen to your ideas.
What if I tried humming but could not hum?
This dream may represent feeling unheard or hidden. You might wish to express a feeling, opinion or need but feel blocked.
What does buzzing or humming mean in a dream?
A humming or buzzing bee often stands for hard work, community and productivity. Bees build something sweet, and this dream can mean teamwork, or that your effort will pay off. Old European legends treated bees as members of the family.
A low, constant hum without a source can feel odd. In dreams, I think it often means something in the background of your life that you haven't confronted just yet. It might be a worry, a feeling or an unfinished task.
Spiritually, some people think a deep hum signifies a much higher awareness. This goes back to Om being the sound behind everything, as I said at the start.
Summary
Humming dreams are mainly positive. They generally mean peace, comfort, love or creativity. The only time it would point to something harder is if the hum felt creepy, irritating or blocked. Even then, it generally means something positive is happening with a feeling or worry, and it is not a terrible sign.
As I said, it is a dream of energy, about moving vibrations or moving you out of a nightmare, and it is a very spiritual dream. Unknown tunes in a dream suggest ideas you have not heard before, and not being able to hum means you may be facing change, or simply moving places spiritually while dreaming.
