Foil Dream Meaning
Foil Dream Meaning
Foil in a dream is about people’s views, remember that foil is reflective. Is dreaming of foil good or bad?
What I have found out from reading and practicing and sitting with it is that a foil in a dream almost always has some safety underneath it. And even if that dream itself was weird and uncomfortable. I believe the symbol itself is protective, it is like a mirror dream to some degree.
Why foil though? What about a mirror or glass?
I find this to be the interesting question. I think foil shows up over a mirror because it's softer. More like you have this in your kitchen draw. A mirror holds your face directly in front of it - it is confrontational. Foil is warmer. It wraps things. Keeps heat in. And it reflects, without being perfect in it. In hoodoo foil is the same as mirrors and are serious working tools in spells like reflection or protection.
Everything that hits the mirror/foil comes back to you, because you can traditionally put mirrors facing out on doors and windows for that reason. A little mirror on the side of the street so anything bad that comes towards the house sees itself and retreats. Some floor washes have shiny elements for the same reason - you make the floor itself reflective spiritually so anything that walks in carrying negativity leaves cleaner than it came.
What if I wrapped something in foil in the dream?
I am going to tell you that this is a different message than seeing foil. Wrapping is preservation. You have something safe that you aren't quite ready to release yet. I think the dream is telling you something is holding you tight - a feeling, a plan, a wound that has not healed, a hope that you haven't spoken - something inside you. The foil does what foil does, keeping it warm. Maybe even stopping the air, I always put foil on my left over dinners. Absolutely nothing is going missing, just not yet.
Was the foil crinkled or torn?
Crinkled foil reflects more light than flat foil, it kind of scatters the light instead of directing it in one beam. That scattering is powerful - it means the protection is going in many directions instead of just one-in the hoodoo understanding of reflective work. With torn foil I would sit more carefully. I think that might be something that has been defending you that is thin and not gone, not broken but asking for your attention in my view.
Has there been a biblical thread running here?
I think there is, although the Bible does not actually talk about foil. But in Corinthians he writes about looking through a dark glass, an old translation; the original meant more looking into a shiny metal mirror whose reflection was dim and imperfect. He means partial understanding versus full understanding. What we can see now isn't what will be clear later. I think the foil dream in the bible is about the whole picture.
That foil you see in you in sleep is like the mirror above the door, reflecting all the crazy stuff in life, I do think this is a good dream. If foil shows up in a dream it seems like your deeper self doing the same work as you sleep. A bit like a sort of reflective surface. Sending things back, you didn't do this deliberately. But something inside of you knew it had to be done and so it grabbed the shiny, most readily available material from your subconscious kitchen and started working.
