Fence Dream Meaning
Fence Dream Meaning
Fences in a dream is a very spiritual symbol in my work, it is about boundaries. It is also about being trapped and can also be dividers spiritually between two elements. In my experience there is lot’s of ways a fence can manifest. It can be an open fence or close one.
- To dream of a fence means you are spiritually safe and protected.
- Metal fences in a dream (like the one in the picture above) is about hard boundaries.
- Wooden fences is about what you can see spiritually in life, it is about handing things in life.
- That you feel prehaps trapped inside something.
- The door of dimensions is closing
- You are keeping something out.
- You are keeping something in there.
- It can mean for a closed fence that you face two choices.
- Surrendering to a higher guidance.
- Passing from state to state of being.
- Slipping past something others can not see.
Fences appear more often in dreams than most people realize. They can be wooden, steel, broken, tall, little or electric. They may surround a house, field, garden or just appear out of nowhere. But a fence does not appear randomly in a dream if it is placed there by chance. It carries meaning.
What is the spiritual meaning of a fence?
In any spiritual work (dreams included) the fence is about protection, and separation between two worlds. Many computer games sometimes use fences to go to the next level. In a biblical context fences are about spiritual dividers, in ancient history they were made from wood, stones or bushes. In ancient israel fences were used to divide but also to protect resources. It is a powerful symbol in spiritual terms and fences were connected to the following:
- Job 1:10: Satan says God has put a hedge of protection around Job
- Isaiah 5:5: God removes the hedge and the vineyard is trampled
- Psalm 80:12: The broken fence means the vine is exposed to harm
What does fences mean in your dream?
As I have said before, this is a boundary. It's a line between two places. In dreams, that line can be emotional, spiritual, relational, or psychological. The meaning is dependent upon precisely what the fence is, where it's, the way you make use of it and the way you think while seeing it. In some of my work, dreaming of a fence usually means thinking about limits. Something in your life feels separate, protected or blocked. That line is symbolized by the fence.
It is important that you feel the dream. If the fence makes you safe, it is a positive symbol. It's a negative when it can make you feel trapped. Makes you curious - it may be pointing at something you haven't yet faced.
What does it mean for a fence to fall?
In a dream, going under a fence is significant. It means you are taking a path of humility. You are not climbing over which is pride or force, and not breaking through.
What does it mean to go over a fence in a dream'?
In a dream, climbing over a fence means you are working hard to get over something. You are not awaiting permission. You are taking action, this can be positive or bad. It depends on the dream. If you climb over and are free, you are overcoming obstacles. If you climb over and guilt or fear yourself, you might be crossing a line you aren't meant to be crossing. It is a more powerful image than going under. It suggests willpower, not surrender.
What does a broken fence mean?
A broken fence can be a powerful dream symbol. It means protection failed. Something meant to keep you safe no longer works. This means a personal boundary has been crossed. Seeing a broken hedge or wall in the Bible often means judgement or exposure. That protection has been lifted. The enemy can come in. If you dream of a broken fence, consider where in your life you feel most vulnerable. What was once safe that no longer is?
What does it mean to dream of building a fence?
Building a fence is positive action. It means you're setting boundaries. You are defending yourself, your family or maybe your peace. This dream can happen when you have been too honest, too trusting or too exposed. The dream is telling you to put limits on yourself.
Building a fence can be connected to creating distance from a toxic situation and for me, it is about protecting your time.
What does it mean to sit on a fence in a dream?
The dream image of sitting on a fence is one of indecision. You have two sides and you can not choose. This is a dream which comes when you make a huge decision. You might be caught between duty and desire, safety and risk, loyalty and truth. The dream isn't judging you. It's showing you where you're. But it may also be a warning. Too long sitting on a fence can be indecision. You have to pick a side/path or come down eventually.
What does it mean to dream of white fences?
I always feel a white fence is about protection, a form of innocence, order and the ideal life. It is the fence of the neat home, of the happy family, of the peaceful neighborhood. The white fence may represent peace and stability if it is clean and whole. The white fence may be peeling or broken, but the perfect image may be cracking. Something that looked ideal is no longer true.
White fences may also represent social expectations. And the dream might be asking you if you are living behind, well, a fence that isn't really yours.
What does it mean to dream of a tall fence?
A high fence is intimidating. It may represent an obstacle that seems too high to climb. It could be a system, person, fear or situation that stands in your way. You may feel small or trapped when you look up at a high fence. On the other side of it you might be protected. The dream wants you to think about what the fence keeps out or keeps in. Is it protecting you or imprisoning you?
What does it mean to dream of an electric fence?
An electric fence represents a boundary that is dangerous. It does not block just. It punishes. This dream is often associated with fear. You might be afraid to cross a line due to what happens. Or maybe you may think someone in your life is putting fear in your back.
Electric fences can mean:
- Strict rules
- Harsh authority
- Fear of punishment
What does it mean to walk along a fence?
Walking along a fence means you are living near something. Especially if you see people standing against one. You are not entirely inside one life and not entirely outside the other. You are in between. People in transition often have this dream. A relationship is over. One job is changing. A belief is changing. You are walking between the old and new. Maybe the dream is telling you keep going. That fence will come down. The path will open. You will not be in between forever.
What does a fence surrounding a house mean in your dream?
A fence around a home is personal property. I find that you are the house. What you use to protect yourself is the fence. If the fence is strong, you have boundaries. If the fence is weak you may be letting in too many people. If there is no fence, you could be feeling exposed. This dream happens when you think of family, privacy or personal space. It is asking you to think about how you protect your inward life.
What does it mean seeing a gate inside a fence?
A gate is a legal way through a fence. It means there's a way in / out, but it takes permission / choice. The way is clear if the gate is open. If the gate is closed you are not ready or allowed. And if the gate is locked, then time hasn't come. In spiritual dreams a gate may be a threshold. A new season. An answered prayer. A door which only opens on the opposite side. The boundary is the fence. The invitation is the gate.
What does it mean to dream of a falling fence?
A fence falling can be scary or liberating, depending on the dream. If you are afraid, your protection is failing. Something you rely on is giving way. If you feel relieved, it means some barrier is coming down. A separation is over. A wall between you and some good thing is coming down. This dream usually comes after a long struggle. The old boundary is no more needed. Something is going to change.
What does it mean to locked inside a fence?
Locked inside a fence means you are trapped within your own boundaries. You may have built walls so others could not come inside but now you can not leave. If the fence is solid or not is also important. This is a bit like a rigid belief or a strict upbringing. The dream isn't saying that the fence is evil. It's saying the fence is too small for you.
What does it mean to not be able to get inside due to a fence?
This to me, means you feel excluded when you're locked outside a fence. You are outside looking in. Someone else is in the safe and you can not go in. This can be a dream of rejection, loss or longing. You might be cut off from a family, gang, job or spirituality. It may also mean you are protected from something that isn't safe - even if it seems warm outside.
Final Word
Fences are never just fences in dreams. They are the lines we trace between safety and risk, between self and our spiritual self. They may protect or imprison. They can guide or block. They may fall or stand, or they may protect.
