Dreams About Renovating a House

Dreams About Renovating a House

In my view this dream is about changing something. We are all energy, we are all made up of something amazing and the actual house in our dream is about us, about what is important to us and what is important to others. I do think this is a dream of change. Moving forward in life.

  • Kitchen: a new kitchen means nourishment. This is how you feed yourself, both physically and emotionally, and who you always cook for.
  • Bathroom: In my view, this is about cleansing and privacy. Something that you need to wash off or a boundary that gets walked through repeatedly.
  • Hall: this is about not being fooled in life according to my old dream books
  • Bedroom: can relate to either intimacy and rest.
  • Attic: This is about your own thinking, your memories, your backed-up plans. There's some clutter there.
Basement or cellar: Making this better, means you have to deal with something now.
  • Painting walls: this is about dealing with a person whos egos are high but making sure that you are both happy

What happens if it all went wrong?

Pipes broken, ceilings falling in can all mean that you are trying to find a needle in a haystack. It is also about a fear of change. It can mean you know something must move and you fear pulling one thread will break everything, sometimes it will.

What if someone was renovating my house instead?

To see this means that someone is decorating your life without you knowing it. A partner or parent, an employer or just a friend who thinks about your choices.

What if I were building an extension?

In the dream this can mean you need more space in your life (space to grow, room to rest or even room to be yourself.) Maybe your needs have kept you crammed into a tight spot too long. It's good news that this dream is taking place. This can mean want more room.

What if it were my childhood home?

To dream of this means something from your past may affect you now: an old rule or an old hurt or even a role you were handed as a child that you never took away. It can mean you can't change where you come from, but you can fix what was done wrong the first time around.

What if I were stripping wallpaper?

This means you are peeling away other people's ideas about who you should be layer by layer. And underneath each one is another. It is about who you are and how to keep going. What lies underneath is the real you.

My final take on this

This whole dream kind of means you are focused on renovating yourself. If we look back at history, Carl Jung believed our life can be represented as a house in dream psychology. To see yourself knocking down walls means you want one open, honest space where you don't have to keep switching faces at every doorway.
