Bugs Dream Meaning
Bug Dream Meaning
When we think of bugs this could be flys, beetles, dragonflies and the list goes on. What I think this dream means for me, is that the bug has a nervous system that has a brain and a ventral nerve cord. This is about stuff in life being crazy in the past and it effected your nervous system.
This is about interfacing in this universe that is above and below, no energy is destroyed our bodies are all of our ancestors, and this is about your sense of what is going to happen. The other thing that is the real deal is that all bugs come from eggs. When I think of bugs I think of little small black bugs, but your dream could feature all sorts of bugs. The more bugs you see the more annoying stuff that may enter your life.
This is about the growth in your life. If you see a brown bug in your dream this is about your emotions. Seeing moths in your dream it means that there is going to be something useless in life. Seeing many bugs like crawling over the floor this is about the train that has left the station. The reality is that this is something that is going to fly in your life.
Beetle - Ancient Egypt did not worship the Scarab, the Book of the Dead, is one of the oldest spiritual texts ever written, regards the scarab as representing Khepri - the god of rising sun, regeneration, of the soul pushing itself forward into light. For me this is a sort of message, from one of the oldest known spiritual traditions is to dream of a beetle, especially one that moves purposefully. Something is regenerating in you. Whatever looked dead is not.
Ants - the ant is among the strongest dream symbols In African and Native American traditional folklore. It does not mean insignificance. Seeing this in your dream means disciplined, collective power. The Hopi People considered the Ant people gods who sheltered humanity underground during world transitions. The virtues of patient, structured effort are demonstrated in dreams of ants. But a dream about ants rushing around in my view means hard work.
The butterfly - the word “psyche” In ancient Greek meant soul and Butterfly at once. Ovid's Metamorphoses does not treat transformation as soft and comfortable, but crazy and total. And, the caterpillar does not know it will become a butterfly, it simply dissolves. A butterfly dream signifies a transformation is either underway or needed. A white butterfly near a sleeping person was the soul temporarily released from the body according to British Isles folklore. Watch the color of the butterfly in your dream, go to the color meanings above to deepen the message.
Spiders - Few dream symbols are more global than the spider. West African Akan tradition has Anansi the spider as the trickster - keeper of all stories, all wisdom, all knowledge that humanity has. A spider chasing you is about your awareness. In Norse tradition, the spider's web is associated with the Norns, the three fate weavers at the base of YGGdrasil spinning all things. Seeing a spider in your dream wants you to examine what you are weaving in yourself.
Bees - more spiritual traditions regard the bee as sacred than almost any other insect. The bees were thought in ancient Egyptian texts to represent the tears of the sun god Ra - each one carrying a fragment of divine intelligence. As messengers between the living world and the spirit world, in Celtic folklore, family deaths were announced to the bees so they could carry the news. The Homeric Hymns of antiquity link bees with prophecy. To think about bees means community, sacred work and divine communication. In dreams, I think, the tradition warns you that truth is coming and it will not be comfortable.
Moths - While I spoke about the butterfly meaning change in daylight, the moth is drawn to light (in your house) instead of sunlight. In the poetry of Persian Sufi origin - especially Rumi and Attar, the moth flying into a flame is the central image of the soul longing after the divine, for total destruction at the hands of the sacred - and the realization that such annihilation need not be destruction but union in its purest sense. I do feel that to dream about a moth means confronting obsession, longing, with something that draws you.
Flies - flies are one of the plagues that Egypt is visited with - not randomly chosen plagues - but symbols of corruption - of what happens when nature violates order - In the Book Exodus. The fly in Beelzebub - Hebrew for Lord of the Flies - represents decay, pride unchecked, power rotting from within. You can call a fly in your dream an uncomfortable messenger. Something is rotting in your life that has gone untreated long enough that it is decaying. The dream isn't punishing you. It's warning you before the damage is irreversible.
Locusts and Grasshoppers - the grasshopper In Chinese spiritual tradition means good luck, abundance and courage to jump without knowing where you will land. The I Ching uses insect imagery to teach timing and how to be still when moving. In the Book of Revelation and in Near Eastern prophetic literature however, the locust swarm signifies great things.
Cockroaches - are not romanticized in Folklore but in spiritual tradition. These creatures have escaped every mass extinction on Earth's history. In some Indigenous dream traditions of the Americas, to dream of a cockroach represents your inner strength - that part of you that can not be destroyed by anything thrown at it. If you dream of a cockroach you haven't paid yourself enough credit for.
Dragonflies - are so sacred In Japanese folklore that Japan was once called Akitsushima. Seeing one means you will have a nice time.
Native American customs (especially among the Navajo) link the dragonfly to pure water and to the ancestors - it is a spirit messenger between worlds. To dream of a dragonfly means that what you are seeing isn't reality. Bugs in dreams were among the earliest spiritual messengers in my research. Every tradition on every continent found a way to relate to insects because they were understood to have meaning. One does not just come into your dream randomly. It has come because your deeper mind.
