Mentis Animal Totem
The mantis is a small green insect, not usually known to be a totem animal.
It is acknowledged as if “praying” to god, due to its strange posture.
It is known to be peaceful, tranquil, quiet, and give calmness in life. Small, indistinguishable when it is familiar surroundings. The strengths of this totem is that when one put’s their guard down it strikes. Thus, the life of the praying mantis never moves without being sure. It never makes a mistake and thinks everything through, always keeping its composure –this totem animal signifies the calm before a storm.
The mantis, right from the word go, is all about composure and knowing when to strike in life, it does not show itself to us until the moment when one thinks that everything in live is important - business, social activities, family.
The mantis is trying to tell us to slow down and create inner peace. It is a warning to slow your own pace and be in touch with your inner child more. Furthermore, the mantis is about composure and finesse for it never attacks with a broken plan; it already has taken every step into consideration - it is still and patient.
No one else can tell the mantis what it needs - decisions are conjured all by itself. This insect wait’s for its prey to lower its guard, and strikes when the opportunity is right.
The mantis is an opportunistic insect. For this to appear as your totem means you are aware of your surroundings, and you are aware in how to deal with situations in life. A mantis is calm because they think everything through.
Lastly, the mantis has long been associated with meditation and contemplation. This insect does not make a move without being one hundred percent sure that it is the right one, thus, having little setbacks. It is a good strategy if one wants to live long in this world, thus, it sends a message to the animal kingdom - humans included.
It gives the message that at times it is good to be still, to reflect, and slow down. Because it gives you a clearer idea of what the best possible option – think and contemplate is the message of this animal totem.
