Tapir

Tapir

Tapir according to description by Wikipedia is a large browsing mammal that is similar to a pig in shape.

They have prehensile, short snout and they live in the jungle forest of Central America, South America and Southern Asia.

They consist of four species which are: the Malayan tapir, mountain tapir, Brazilian tapir and Baird’s tapir. The four are normally considered to be vulnerable or endangered species.

They are of different colors from reddish-brown, black to grey. They have white-tipped oval ears, protruding rounded rumps, stubby tails, and hooves toes that they use to walk through soft and muddy ground.

They are normally very flexible animals and they are able to move in all the directions as they get their prey. Their young ones usually mature at three to five years old but the female one matures earlier than the male ones.

They usually frequent water to cool themselves and to hide from their predators as well as to find some soft vegetation that they feed on. Their main habitat is dry land forests.

Tapir has symbolic features that provide wisdom and knowledge to us as humans. Their behavior, way of life and physical features provide different information that is very useful in real life situations.

Tapir’s wisdom include: toughness, understanding shyness, longevity, connection to the horse and rhinoceros, gentleness, ability to remain unchanged by time.

They are very tough animals that can run in the mud in any direction to get food. Those who have tapir’s power are very tough. They are strong enough to outwit their enemies and to struggle to get what they want in life. They are very strong both physically and emotionally. When they feel weary, they renew their strength through inspiration and encouragement by their past victories.

They understand shyness and they know that those who are shy are intimidated by the strong personalities like them. Those who take tapir as their totem animal are usually of high understanding to the weak. They know that everyone cannot be the same. They embrace the unique characteristics of people. In this world, there is diversity in terms of people and surrounding. People come from different places and so they are brought up differently. We therefore need to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to live well in the society.

They have the power of longevity. They can live for a very long period of time although they are vulnerable and endangered species. They are at risk because of their predators but they can live up to fifty years or more.

They are also gentle. Those who take tapir as their animal totem are very gentle in their actions and character. They treat others with gentleness and they don’t rush into issues.

They are also able to remain unchanged by time. Some people change their lifestyle, their character and their way of living when their income changes. But those who have the power of tapir are able to maintain the way they’ve always been without changing anything.
