Black snake root

Black snake root also goes by the name Black cohosh, a plant native to Canada and the United States.

It offers protection and inner guidance by connecting the body and the soul. It has been used by Native American Indians to ease the pain of childbirth and menstrual cramps. It is also used to relieve hot flashes during menopause and to relieve muscular aches and pains. It is considered sacred to some and an ally to women. 

Black snake root chips are believed to provide magical protection and strength to the weak, timid, afraid or shy. It protects against snake bites and prevents evil from entering the home. When carried around on the person, it brings courage and protects from harm and wards off unnatural illnesses. Sprinkle it outside the house to take off bad work and undo crossing marks. Add it to holy water and sprinkle around the room to rid it of negative influences and energies.

The chips can be drunk in a tea. Or, better yet, make into a floor wash by sprinkling the chips on the floor and sweeping them out the door. If you add the chips to hot water this is suppose to remove any enemy work on your doorstep. You may also bathe in the tea to destroy an unwanted suitor’s love and to uncross your nature. Washing one’s hands in a tea made from powdered black snake root gives one courage. Mix black snake root with an unwanted renter’s hair and burn to remove this person from the property. Place the ashes in a jar and bury it in a graveyard on the next full moon to make said unwanted renter move.

Black snake root  may also be used to attract love, lust, money and prosperity, as well as to increase fertility. Wear it or mix with Rose and Gardenia petals in a sachet and hang in your closet to attract love. Place it in the bedroom and add to baths for lust. Carry it in your pocket or place it in your purse to attract money. Add an infusion of one tablespoon of black snake root power dissolved in a cup of hot water and a few drops of Lavender oil to your bathwater to enhance fertility.
